Nevada is one of the 50 states of the United States of America and is nicknamed the "Silver State". The capital is Carson City, but the most famous city is Las Vegas.
The nickname is Silver State because in 1859 silver was found in this state. At that time the state Nevada did not exsist, but was part of the state of Utah. Nevada separated itself from Utah in 1861 and Nevada officially beccame the 36th state of the United States of America in 1864.

Nevada is bordered in the north to Oregon and Idaho, in the south to California and in the east to Utah and Arizona. The area of Nevada is 286,585 km2 and it has about 2.4 million inhabitants. Nevada is not desert only, but also has mountainous areas.
One striking detail is that gambling is legal in Nevada . This makes it possible for a city like Las Vegas to exsist.

During our road trip in Nevada we only saw Las Vegas because we picked up our RV there. In the menu on the left you'll find an impression of Las Vegas.
