One of the most famous national parks of the United States of America is Yosemite National Park. Yosemite is pretty close to San Francisco at 250 km and is popular with people from the big city. Being in the middle of the Sierra Nevada, Yosemite is diverse and the park is surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges.
The creation of this beautiful National Park is due to glaciers that were here millions of years ago. This is clearly visible in the valleys of Yosemite.

Yosemite has, as many other National Parks, a shuttle system. This shuttle takes you to your destination in Yosemite Valley quickly and is free for visitors. Shuttle Buses to Glacier Point are not free.

Yosemite has several nice vantage points, most of which we have visited. Tunnel View gives a nice overview of the valley with Half Dome and El Capitan clearly visible. Also at sunrise and sunset this is the place for pictures.
Glacier Point is another well-known viewpoint. From Tunnel View you drive through a tunnel and turn out at Chinquapin. This winding road takes you to Glacier Point.

Naturally you can do some good walking and hiking in Yosemite. With good, but also with average weather, there are several nice walks. We went to Inspiration Point and Mirror Lake. We also walked the Mist Trail to the falls. In Mariposa Grove we walked through the forest with the largest living trees on earth.

Our first meeting with Yosemite was at the Tioga Pass. This highest drivable pass is the northern entrance to Yosemite from Mono Lake. If you have the opportunity, this is worth the drive but when it is open.

Unfortunately we have seen no bears in Yosemite. If you want to go to Yosemite, take the presence of bears into account. Food Lockers are available at each parking and camp ground. Bears are smart and strong and a car is match for them.

In the menu on the left are the walks we made in Yosemite.
