Because the Veluwe is just around the corner for us and because of our hobby Geocaching, we can be found here often. So we have walked quite a few kilometers on the Veluwe.

The veluwe is the largest lowland nature terrain of North West Europe, and covers about 1000 km². It's roughly situated between the cities Arnhem, Dieren, Apeldoorn, Hattum, Harderwijk, Barneveld, Ede and Wageningen. the Veluwe should nog be confused with the national park the High veluwe which covers only 55 km².

Large areas of the Veluwe consist of push moraines from the Saale ice age. The highest push moraine, and also the highest point of the Veluwe, lies near the Rozendaals field and is about 110 meters high. Further several streams can be found on the Veluwe, like the Renkum Stream valley of which a few pictures can be found below. National Park Veluwezoom and the Posbank also belong to the Veluwe, we have a seperate page for these areas.

There a lot of possibilities to go for a walk on the Veluwe. At several visitor centres you can get information about the area and you'll longer ans shorter marked walks. And if you don't feel like walking, there are plenty of cycling routes to explore the Veluwe. National Park the Veluwezoom is close by, as is Burgers' Zoo in Arnhem, the dolfinarium in Harderwijk, Ouwehands Dierenpark (Zoo) in Rhenen, the Apenheul Primate Park and queen Juliana Tower in Apeldoorn.
