For a ski holiday we leave to Verbier in Valais in Switzerland. The ski area Les Quatre Vallées is a vast ski area with about 340 km of pistes. The Les Quatre Vallées ski area stretches from Veysonnaz to Verbier. For experienced skiers and for the less experienced skier there is a large variety of runs. But who dislikes drag lifts, can better go to the Verbier side of the Quatre Vallées ski arena.

After three days of skiing, they predict snow and poor visibility. For us is this day the ideal day for a walk in the area of Verbier in Valais. We have both as well in the summer as in the winter made several hikes in Switzerland, but mainly in the German speaking part of Valais. Verbier is on the the French speaking part of Valais in Switzerland.

We start our winter walk at the lift station of the Savoleyres. We walk the road up to the back of the lift station. After we have left the construction of Verbier behind we continue to walk to the crossing of turning back to Verbier or continue to Le Chateau. We are curious about the ruin of Le Chateau and use winter trail to walk to the top. The trail through the woods is easily walkable in the winter despite the many snowfalls. After we have turned left to Le Chateau is the path less travelled in the snow. Regular a foot of one of us drops further away in the snow. But despite everything, the trail is very beautiful. We walk through the woods dotted with beautiful views of Verbier and the Rhone valley of Valais in Switzerland.

We walk, ascending and descending, and arrive at Le Chateau, but the heavy snowfall prevent us to walk to the view point and ruin of Le Chateau. We have lunch at Le Chateau and walk back over the snowy trail. Way we see a gem in the woods looking for food. Then we turn left at the intersection. We walk on the winter route with panoramic views over Verbier and Valais. The snow on this trail is a panorama walk. The trail is smoothed by a pistebully. This is walking a lot easier. We walk over the winter panorama route back to the centre of Verbier.

This winter walk was very nice to walk. And during the walk the weather was getting better. We had brought spikes for our shoes, but no snow cover. With the snow covers some parts of the trail would have been a lot easier to walk. Unfortunately, the viewpoint of Le Chateau too far over snowed to enjoy the view. Along the way are no restaurants.
