Riederalp in Wallis, Switzerland is a small mountain village on the edge of the Aletsch glacier. Together with Bettmeralp and Fischeralp these villages are the skiing area Aletsch Arena. The skiing area Aletsch Arena is a varied skiing and walking area where there are lots of possible activities during the winter season as well as during the somer season.

Because of the small scale of Riederalp, Bettmeralp and Fiescheralp it's always fairly quiet on the slopes. There are hardly any waits at the cable cars and chairlifts and there is plenty of room on the slopes. When you stay in one of the mountain villages you have direct access to the skiing area Aletsch Arena in Switzerland. You can also go to the Bettmerhorn and Eggishorn during the winter season for more spectacular views of the Aletsch glacier, the Rhône valley and the Fiescher valley.

Besides skiing slopes there are also a lot of winter walking trails. The walking trails are a nice change during the skiing holiday. We have walked several of the winter walking trails. The walking trails are fairly easy and give great views of the Rhône valley, the Matterhorn and the Aletsch glacier in Switzerland.

During the somer season there are many walking possibilities in the Aletsch area in Switzerland. One of the popular walks in the Aletsch area starts in Riederalp with the chairlift towards the Riederfurka and along the ridge towards Hohfluh or Moosfluh, or the other way around ofcourse if you prefer going downhill. This walk always gives you great views of Wallis in Switzerland.
