Along the ridge from Moosfluh to Hohfluh and Riederfurka back to Riederalp

After a morning of skiing we decide to put on our walking boots in the afternoon and to walk the ridge along the Aletsch glacier in Switzerland. We get on the Moosfluh chairlift at Riederalp and begin our walk at 2333m. At the top of Moosfluh you have spectacular views of the Aletsch glacier, the Rhône valley and the Aletsch Arena. Lots of skiers, but also many walkers stop to take a picture of the Aletsch glacier in Switzerland, the largest glacier of mainlaid Europe. We begin our walk towards the Hohfluh. The walking trail is easy enough, although sometimes spikes would have more comfortable. Still, the walking trail can be done fairly well with regular walking boots. From Hohfluh there is the possibilty to take the chairlift down to Riederalp to shorten the walk or avooid the descent. We decide to keep walking towards the Riederfurka. We drink something at the mountain restaurant Riederfurka and descend towards Riederalp.

Of all the winter walking trails we followed the 101 first. For the descent we used the 100 and the way back to Riederalp went via the 202.

During this walk you have great views of the Rhône valley, the Matterhorn and the Aletsch glacier. The walk is fairly level, you only descend from the mountain restaurant Riederfurka towards Riederalp.
