Today we drive a half hour from Orgiva through the Alpujarras in Andalusia to Yegen. We want to walk a short walk from Yegen with beautiful views of the Alpujarras. After a few narrow roads we arrive in Yegen. We park our car at the beginning of the village and look for the start of the walk.

Soon we find the starting point and the information board with details about the walk. We walk mainly through open fields, so we would have beautiful views over the Alpujarras in Spain. We start with a steep paved road uphill. And soon the walk on the unpaved roads climbs up quickly. The sun is shining brightly and we have little shelter of trees, but the view over the Alpujarras is beautiful.

At the highest point we look out over the Alpujarras and Yegen. We regret that there is no bench at this point. So we continue our walk back to Yegen. In the barranco we follow the walking trail along the dried out barranco down. There we find a nice tree where we have a break. Then we descend pretty quickly towards Yegen. The walk along the barranco is nice, much nicer than the first part of the walk near Yegen. But soon we are back on a dirt road along a dry barranco. In itself, the surrounding area with flowers not even bad, but the hike near Yegen is a bit disappointing. The last part of the hike to Yegen we walk along the main road (A4130). In a siesta into town we find a bench in the shade and then we drive back to Orgiva.

The walk from Yegen is not really recommended. In itself, the views are nice, but you can see the same piece of the Alpujarras the entire walk. The first part of the walk, where you must climb uphill, is little shade to be found. Also almost the entire walk runs along wide dirt roads. The part along the barranco we found the best part of the walk. There is no way to obtain food or drink.
