Tsitsikamma National Park is one of the most beautiful national parks that we have seen in South Africa. The park consists of more than 80 km coastline. Tsitsikamma National Park has beautiful forests and unique vegetation. Tsitsikamma literally means "place of much water '. Of course there is much water because of the rugged coastline, but also in the park there is an abundance of water.
In the park are several rivers and streams. The steep slopes lead water streams to beautiful waterfalls. Annually there is about 1200 mm of rain, most of which in May and October.

Tsitsikamma National Park is an excellent walking area. There are several footpaths and there is no big game. Without a guide you can walk beautiful walking trails. If you do not like walking, you can all day watch the waves crashing on the rocks on its shore. Our house was opposite the Skiet Cliff what we meant hours watching waves.
Storms River Mouth Rest Camp (stormsriviermond ruskamp) is the central point of the Tsitsikamma National Park. From here several hiking trails start. Also the Rest Camp has a shop and a restaurant.

Tsitsikamma National Park is seen by many as the beginning of the garden route to Cape Town. This is the first national park that lies on the route. Tsitsikamma National Park is also part of the Garden Route National Park.

If you go to South Africa will, make sure you stay in Tsitsikamma National Park. We found the park a paradise! On the left you our hikes in Tsitsikamma National Park.
