The iSimangaliso Wetland Park is one of the largest nature reserves in South Africa. Since 1999 the iSimangaliso Wetland Park is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The park covers approximately 3280 km2 with 280 km coastline. The park is a natural ecosystem of salt water.

In the afternoon we arrive in St. Lucia Wetlands and decide to visit the park. At the B & B we get a map of the wetlands and we decide to drive to Cape Vidal. This road is about 30 km long and is completely paved. We drive from St. Lucia to the Bhangzi gate and enter the park. Soon we see zebras, warthogs and kudus.

We do not take turns and ride quietly to Cape Vidal. In the park is the maximum speed 40 km per hour, again we drive slower. There is much to see along the road that we use all the time to look around.

There are a few places where you can step out of your car and there we enjoy the view over iSimangaliso Wetland Park. The scenery is very beautiful and green. At the Mfabeni we look out over the Mfabeni Swamp. A little further we see a rhino. He is quite far away, but he is clearly visible. We follow the rhino until he disappears behind a hill and we will not see him anymore. Rhinos is still an exotic animal to see. We drive to Cape Vidal and walking on the beach. The coastline at Cape Vidal is very beautiful. The sea is fairly calm, but it invites us not to swim there. The fishermen are standing into the sea and with their rods in the surf. Since the gate closes at 6 hours, we drive the same route back. Unfortunately we do not have time to drive to viewpoint. At the spot where we saw the rhino we drive quietly. We want to see if the rhino is still in the area. But the rhino has other plans and we can't see him.

At a lookout we get out of the car. The view is a small lake with a very beautiful nature. We don't see any animals and therefore we continue our drive. Around 5:30 we drive through the gate and we leave Bhangazi iSimangaliso Wetland Park. We go to our B & B and looking for a restaurant where we can eat.
