The flower walk.
This circular hike on Madeira is not very long and can be walked easily. The hike goes through flowers and a well maintained trail.

The distance is 6.5 km, 2 hours.
Height difference: about 150 m descending/ascending.
Necessities: hiking boots, long pants, sun protection, food and water.
Beware: in some places the rocks can be slippery.

After we parked our car, we started our walk. The first section between thistles and yellow flowers. After this section we arrived in a sea of flowers of all kinds of colors. So many flowers, that they were hanging over the trail and we to look where it was. But very spectacular to walk through. A bit further on we arrived at the source of the levada da Serra. A cooling waterfall with spectacular views towards the north coast of Madeira. Here we stopped to eat and drink something. After continuing our way we arrived in a section where the path was so overgrown, we had to force our way through. The last section is a small, but intense climb. After a bit with a lot of moss, we arrived back at our car.

When we arrived back at our car we met a German couple, they were planning on doing the same hike. The had walked the trail we had planned for the afternoon. After exchanging some stories we went to the next trail.
