Greece belongs to the European Union and borders on Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria and Turkey. The official name of Greece is Hellas. The capitol is Athens where about 745.000 Greeks live. Greece has about 10 million inhabitants. Greece has a rich history.
In many places in Greece you can find excavations tourists can visit. Also the first Olympic games were held in the village Olympia in Greece.
Greece has it's own alphabet, the Greek alphabet. In most touristic areas most places are indicated in the Greek alphabet as well as the Latin alphabet we know.
Greece is comprised of the mainland and a large number of islands. Some better known ones: Rhodes, Kos and Crete. In Mai 2009 we visited Crete. Look for the travelogue in the menu on the left.
