Germany lies in Central Europe and boarders The Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria and Switzerland. Germany covers an area of approximate 357000 km2. The total inhabitants of Germany are approximate 82 million, which makes it, in Europe, the most inhabitants.

The language is German and the capitol of Germany is Berlin.
Germany is divided in several provinces with in the North: Niedersachsen and Sleewijk-Holstein, in the South: Bayern and Baden-Württemberg, in the east: Brandenburg, Sachsen, Sachsen-Anhalt, Thüringen Mecklenburg-Voor-Pommeren, and in the west: Rheinland-Pfalz, Hessen and North Rhine-Westphalia.

Germany is very divers due to its size. The north is relatively flat and sparsely populated. In the west of Germany lies North Rhine-Westphalia and within lies the Ruhr area. This area is, due to the industrial Ruhr area, the most densely populated area of Germany. North Rhine-Westphalia is not only industrial, but there is a lot of nature as well. The area has a hilly landscape covert with forests.

In the south, the landscape is even hillier with big cities like München. Here the Beierse Alps, the Black forest, the Eifel and the Mosel and other big rivers like the Donau and the Main are situated.
The south of Germany is an ideal destination for a walking holiday or other outdoor activities.

We went to Germany on several occasions. For more information read our travelogue on the left side in the menu.
