The last hike we walk in Wells Gray Provincial Park is near Clearwater Lake. On the second day in Wells Gray Provincial Park, we drive all the way to the end of the park, about 70 kilometers from the entrance. The last 35 kilometers, from the the exit to the Helmckel Falls is a good dirt road which is drivable with a normal car.

At the end of the afternoon we arrive at Clearwater Lake in Wells Gray Provincial Park. We park our car in the parking lot at the beginning of hiking trail at Clearwater Lake. We can have a view over the Chain Meadows if we walk to a viewpoint. We start to walk along the shores of Clearwater Lake but do not yet know whether we will go to the lookout point above 600 meters the shores of the lake. From the shores of Clearwater Lake, we also have a nice view over the lake. The water of Clearwater Lake is so bright because it is filtered by mountains and can settle in the Great Lakes. Clearwater Lake, Azure Lake and Lake Hobson are all linked together and form one of the largest freshwater reservoirs of Canada.

The walk over the Chain Meadows trail goes through an amazing primeval forest. We have noticed during our visit to Wells Gray that large parts of primeval forest are in the Provincial Park. This ancient forest is very beautiful and great fun to walk through. We arrive at the climb towards the view point and have, after walking all day, no energy to climb. We also suffer from the heat, given the high temperatures in September. We look for a tree stump at the shores of Clearwater Lake and enjoy the view for a while.

Through the beautiful nature we walk back to the parking lot. The nature alone makes this hike worth the effort. But if we had more time and fewer miles walked today, we were sure would have walked up to the view point over Azure Lake and Wells Gray Provincial Park. We drive back to Clearwater and exit Wells Gray Park in Canada
