Today we drive from Wells Gray Provincial Park to Jasper National Park, 350 km with a bit of time for a walk. We decide to walk to Kinney Lake in Mount Robson Provincial Park. After more than half the distance we spontaneously are surprised by the view of Mount Robson from the highway. Because there is allot of the snow and the mountain is quite alone, the view of Mount Robson is stunning. What a nice view during the car trip to Jasper National Park. This also means that we are getting close to Mount Robson Provincial Park.

Soon we drive into the parking lot at the visitor center of Mount Robson Provincial Park. During the preparations in the Netherlands, we saw that the road to the parking lot of the hike to Kinney Lake was closed, so we ask at the visitor center to the road conditions. The road is open again but there is still some work done. So with the car we drive to a crowded parking lot. The walk to Kinney Lake is a very popular hike in British Columbia in Canada. We find a parking space and quickly park our car.

We put on our walking shoes and we start our hike to Kinney Lake in Mount Robson Provincial Park. The trail runs gradually 150 meters up over 4 km. So the hike to Kinney Lake is not too steep and the path is well maintained. Here and there is some damage on the trail through water, but overall it’s a good hiking path. In the forests of Mount Robson Provincial Park, we see beautiful mushrooms, red cornus canadesis and very tall trees. The nature around the trail to Kinney Lake is incredibly beautiful. Just before Kinney Lake we descend a little further, but then we get to our destination. We have a very nice view Kinney Lake with a nice view of Mount Robson. We can walk further along Kinney Lake, but we have not enough time. We crossed another time zone and have an hour less today.

At the picnic area at Kinney Lake, we pause at a picnic bench. We have a late lunch and enjoy the super beautiful views. It is always breathtaking to see the reflection of the mountains and trees in the quiet waters. A view on which we could watch could watch for hours. Unfortunately, we still have to drive to Jasper National Park, so reluctantly we leave Kinney Lake and walk back to the parking lot of Mount Robson Provincial Park. The descent on the way back quickly and before we realize we are back at the car.

This walk is fun, short and not difficult to walk. From Jasper you are within an hour at the visitors of Mount Robson Provincial Park. The long version of this hike to Berg Lake and Berg Glacier is 19 kilometers one way. There are people who walk there and back in one day, but most stay overnight before they walk back.
