Between Jasper National Park and Banff National Park is the most beautiful highway in Canada. We leave early from Jasper National Park to see as much as possible on the Icefields Parkway. This tourist highway is about 300 kilometers long, but there is so much to see.

Our first stop is at the Athabasca Falls where we have a nice walk round the waterfall and have beautiful views. The next stop is the Sunwapta Falls. This waterfall is also very nice, especially if you walk a little bit through a canyon can to the other side to see the Sunwapta River.
We stop at the various parking lots along the way where we really beautiful views of the mountains surrounding the Icefields Parkway. We take at least at each parking a small amount of time to look around.

After about two hours driving we arrive at the Athabasca Glacier. The Athabasca Glacier is one of the most popular glaciers along the Icefields Parkway. There is even the possibility of a bus drive experience on the glacier, if you want to do something very touristy. You can also walk the path up to the Wilcox Pass to have a better view of the Athabasca Glacier. But you can also drive the Parker Ridge. Then you see a beautiful glacier that you cannot see from the Icefields Parkway.
By passing the Athabasca Glacier we leave Jasper National Park and enter Banff National Park. You are also about halfway between Jasper and Banff.

Our next stop on the Icefields Parkway is at the parking lot at Peyto Lake. From the parking lot you have a beautiful view of the blue Peyto Lake. There is a circular walk around Peyto Lake, but we did not have time to walk it. So we drive on to Bow Lake. There is a walk to the Bow Lake Falls, but we have to pass that as well. We want to drive to Yoho National Park for a walk.

We enjoyed our drive from Jasper to Banff on the Icefields Parkway. However, there was so much to see along the road that we couldn’t see and walk everything. Therefor we will definitely go back to drive the most beautiful highway in Canada.
