Fernie is a popular ski town in British Columbia in Canada. In winter, many tourists come here every year because of the fine powder snow. We were visited Fernie however, in the fall. Labor Day had just passed, which means an end at the touristic summer season in Fernie. In the summer there is plenty to do around Fernie. Fernie is the best place to go fly fishing in British Columbia is the Elk River. But there are plenty of walks in and around Fernie. Just outside the center of Fernie lies Mount Fernie Provincial Park. In summer, this ski area provides several walking trails. However, after Labor Day the gondola is closed.
For a nice short walk to Fernie we drove to the visitors of Mount Fernie Provincial Park just outside of Fernie. Here we ask for information about the walks we want to do and of course where the bear activity is in the area.

The walk along the Fairy Creek to the Fairy Creek Falls starts at the visitor center of Mount Fernie Provincial Park. The walk is relatively flat and not very long, so late in the afternoon we start our hike. We must first take a small climb uphill, but soon we walk fast over a flat path. The lady of the visitor center tells us that walk to the Fairy Creek Falls about a half hour. But after 30 minutes we reach the Fairy Creek Falls. The nature around this walk to the Fairy Creek Falls is very beautiful. Autumn flowers bloom and the trees show their fall colors. The Fairy Creek Falls is a nice waterfall to see and is definitely worth a nice short walk near Fernie. We expect rain, so after a short break at the waterfall we walk back to the visitor center of Mount Fernie Provincial Park. Along the way we take the time to view the flowers and we make noise so scare of any bears in the area. On a good path we quickly returned to the car. We walked the hike to the Fairy Creek Falls in about an hour.

The Fairy Creek Falls is a must for those who have little time in Fernie in British Columbia. Do you have more time than drive up to Island Lake in Fernie.
