For a round trip we went to Western Canada. In three weeks we drove along Provincial Parks and National Parks in Canada. We started our trip in Calgary where we got our rental car. After a night relaxing and get used to the time difference we leave the province of Alberta. We drive towards Waterton Lakes National Park on the border with the United States of America. We stayed two nights near Waterton National Park where we have walked two beautiful walks. We continue our way to Fernie where we walk nice trails near Island Lake. After two nights we leave Fernie and we drive to Nelson.

Near Nelson we drive to Kokanee Glacier hiking and a beautiful walk along beautiful mountain lakes. We also leave Nelson after two nights and then we drive to Manning Provincial Park. From the owner of the B & B we get the advice to hike the Heather Trail. Also this Heather Trail was a beautiful hike. After spending a full day in Manning Park we drive along Vancouver and we end up in Whistler. We take the Whistler gondolas up and make walk the Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Mountain, two nice walks. After Whistler we drive to Wells Gray Provincial Park. Here we have two full days for the many lovely walks. We leave British Columbia and back to Alberta and drive to Jasper National Park.

In Jasper National Park, we have some bad luck with the walks because of bear warnings and a glacier chunks that has come down. Yet here we can make nice hikes in Jasper National Parks. The Icefields Parkway is one of the many highlights of the trip through Canada. We make nice walks and have very nice views during this driving day. Our visit to Banff National Park is the final destination of this roundtrip through Western Canada. We do not only walk along Lake Louise, but also visit Yoho National Park and Kananaskis Country. Then our vacation in Western Canada is over and we drive back to Calgary.

We couldn’t do everything during this tour of Western Canada what we wanted to do. We asked for a different route though Canada because we wanted to visit Waterton Lakes National Park. Therefore, there was no time for example to visit Mount Revelstoke National Park. We also wanted to visit Vancouver Island, but due to the time we had to skip that as well. We will definitely return to again make another tour through Western Canada. We enjoyed each and every view and every walk in the Provincial Parks and National Parks in Canada that we have made.

In the left menu you will find GPS track logs, photos and a description of all the walks we have done.
