Valdez - Thompson Pass - Palmer - Alaska - USA

Today there’s a long drive on the schedule. The route from Valdez to Palmer.
We drive towards the Thompson Pass and have great luck with the weather! The sun is shining and we have great views from Thompson Pass. We stop again at the Worthington Glacier to get a picture without clods. What a difference with 2 days ago! From a parking area beside the road we take a picture from a distance that shows the entire glacier. After that we drive on towards Palmer.
A few days ago when we were driving towards Chitina, Mount Sanford, Mount Drum and Mount Wrangell weren’t visible because of the weather. Now, a few days later, we’re in luck and we can get pictures without any trouble.
Once we’re north of Copper Centre it’s about time to get driving. The time flies, but the distance does not. We get closer to Glenallen, where we drive towards Anchorage. Glenallen is known for it’s mosquitoes, so we pass on stopping there. At least we killed a substantial amount of the on our car…
Actually, the First part after Glenallen is fairly boring. There’s not much to see and the road is dead straight. A nice section to get some miles behind us. We stop at Sheep mountain to enjoy the view. The colors of the mountain are quite special.
A bit further on is the Manatuska Glacier, but they forgot to make some parking areas where you can have a good look at the glacier.
We drive on towards the Hatcher Pass where our B&B is located. We arrive and get a room. The common room is the living room of our hosts and breakfast is served in their own kitchen. An exceptionally well cared for B&B with very friendly owners, an oasis of peace and quiet.
