Ponta de São Lourenço is the peninsula on the east coast of Madeira. The peninsula consists of lava rocks. During the hiking we enjoyed the rough coast and the different visible layers in the rocks.
The hiking trail can be walked comfortably with a pair of good hiking boots. Because it is warm and dry, the thistles and agave grown besides the trail. The last section of the route is closed because of the condition of the trail. But there is enough to see and enjoy in the first section.
There are a lot of trails to descend to the different bays to wet your feet in the sea. We surely enjoyed this short hike. Especially the different colors of the rocks and the rough coastline are something you shouldn't miss when visiting Madeira!
