The hike at Cruz Grande was very easy. It's a wide dirt road (where we had to get out of the way of earth moving machines now and then) where there are few hikers. We wanted to climb to the top of a flat mountain, but the last section we couldn't find a trail. Grip on the steep slope was getting to little to continue as well. A little further down there was a great viewpoint where we overlooked San Bartolomé de Tirajana and Fataga.
The trail goes through the National Park (Parque National de Pilancones) of Gran Canary.
Years later there was a great forest fire here, set by an angry firefighter. A shame of this beautiful area! If you want to hike on Gran Canary, this trail can be recommended. The trail is in good condition and can hardly be missed. The track goes uphill slowly and there are major height differences.
